Why it is Done
To help investigate the inappropriate blood clot formation, to help determine the cause of recurrent miscarriage, or as part of an evaluation for antiphospholipid syndrome or sometimes other autoimmune diseases.
What is this test
Cardiolipin Antibodies are useful in identifying patients with an increased risk of thrombosis, recurrent spontaneous abortions and the phospholipid antibody syndrome. Cardiolipin antibody IgG is the most sensitive, but the least specific antibody.
