  • Medication :Any pre-existing medication should only be stopped after consultation with the referring Physician

Why it is Done

The Urine Osmolality test is performed when one or more of the following symptoms appear: Abnormal sodium level in blood, Lethargy, Excessive thirst and urination, Dehydration , Nausea , Chronic diarrhea. The test may also be performed when the patient has consumed methanol, spurious alcohol, etc.

What is this test

The urine osmolality test is a clinical test to determine the water electrolyte balance of the body, anomalies in urine production, kidney functioning, and low sodium levels in the body. It may also be used to detect alcohol poisoning.
