Why it is Done
The test is required to detect excess protein in the urine for further detection and monitoring of any kidney damage. Severe protein loss can cause symptoms like nausea, edema, fatigue and shortness of breath. Excess protein causes lymphoma, amyloidosis and multiple myeloma.
What is this test
Protein Random (Spot) Urine test is used to measure protein released in the urine that causes a condition called proteinuria. The protein may increase in concentration due to diabetes, nephritic syndrome, drug nephrotoxicity and hypertension.
