  • Medication :Any pre-existing medication should only be stopped after consultation with the referring Physician

Why it is Done

To determine if you have sickle cell trait or disease by measuring the presence and relative amount of haemoglobin S.

What is this test

Sickle cell testing are used to help diagnose sickle cell anaemia(also called sickle cell disease) and to identify those who may have sickle cell trait. Sickle cell anaemia is an inherited disorder that leads to the production of an abnormal haemoglobin called haemoglobin S (Hb S or Hgb S).
