Thyroid gland located in your body secretes two main hormones T3, T4 which helps to control the rate at which your body uses energy. TSH another hormone secreted by the pituitary gland, in turn, regulates the production of T3, T4 hormones. Levels of these hormones may increase or decrease in various diseases of the thyroid gland. This test measures the levels of these hormones.
Why is it done?

Thyroid profile is done for the following reasons:

-Screening: It is highly recommended for people over the age of 60 and pregnant women to help early detection and treatment. It is useful to screen when you experience any of the following symptoms:
o Weight gain/weight loss o Cold/heat intolerance o Menstrual irregularity in women o Anxiety

What is this test
